Flash is artisitic (I’m just kidding)!
You should definitely read Kim Berg’s article : The You-Don’t-Matter Website (A Look At Ego/Vanity Sites)
“Artistic sites by graphic artists tend to love to break rules. They’re all about the art and the newer technology which offers them great freedom to express themselves. The site is all about them. “You” are secondary. If you come, thank you. If you don’t, you won’t be missed. It wasn’t designed for you.”

POINT: Art, or in this case design, does not only rely on high-tech. It can based upon a technology (plug-in), just the way it is with Flash, allowing creative people to have more freedom, but It cannot go against main usability principles. A Flash website does not mean a more creative websites. Flash is a great tool, but it remains a tool.
And so far, I have often seen more Flash based website badly designed, than regular HTML ones badly designed.
Movies done 50 years ago with what can be considered outdated technology are often way better than today’s 3D Blockbusters.
Many companies have no or low understanding of what a website is all about. They are just “Doing Away With Basic Usability, Accessibility and Search Engine Marketing”. And it happens so often with companies with a name.
Thanks alot Kim for pointing your finger at something I also have a hard time understanding.
